Angels Advocate Tour

The Angels Advocate Tour was the seventh concert tour by American R&B/pop singer Mariah Carey, in support of her twelfth studio album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. The tour only visited North America.

Mariah Carey announced the first North American dates in support of her Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel album on Friday (December 11). The two-month, 19-city tour is scheduled to kick off on January 2 at the Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and is currently slated to wrap up on February 27 at the Pearl Concert Theater in Las Vegas.

The Angels Advocate Tour, Carey's first major outing since 2006's Adventures of Mimi: The Voice, the Hits, the Tour, will be preceded by a New Year's Eve warm-up gig at Madison Square Garden in New York. Tickets for most of the dates will go on sale on December 19.

The opening act on the tour will be R&B act RydazNrtist, who have just signed to Carey's husband Nick Cannon's NCredible Entertainment. The trio recently toured on the BET "106 & Park" outing with Trey Songz, Mario, Sean Garrett and Day26 and have released a debut single, "Sorry Ass Apology."

Fans can warm up for their obligatory sing-alongs to "I Want to Know What Love Is" with the new MC iPhone app "Mariah Carey-oke," which uses voice recognition software to judge how well you know the notes and lyrics to some of Carey's favorite tunes.

Background

After performing a set of promotional shows at The Pearl Concert Theater, rumors circulated in the media of Carey's forthcoming arena tour. In December 2009, the tour was official announced by Carey's official website and Twitter page, under the title "Angels' Advocate Tour".The name is linked to a song from her recent album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, "Angels Cry" which will be remixed to feature Ne-Yo and will be released whilst Carey is on tour. This was her first concert tour since her The Adventures of Mimi Tour in 2006. Dates were only slated for the U.S. and Canada. However, Carey was hoping to visit the UK and Australia later this year.

Critical Reception

Critical reception to the tour has been generally positive, with most reviewers praising Carey's vocals and the stage production as a whole [13][14]. The set design and set list have also been praised, in particular he mix of "Love Hangover"/"Heartbreaker" and her performances of "We Belong Together" and "Hero".Her time keeping has come in for some criticism at certain dates, while others felt that there were too many costume changes throughout the show.
